Falmouth Events Guide 2026: What's On Through the Year
Falmouth runs an event for almost every month of the year, from sea shanties echoing through harbour-side pubs in June to oyster boats dredging in October. Here's a month-by-month guide to the biggest, with links out to each event's official site for the year's specific dates.
A note on dates: most of these are annual recurring events held in roughly the same week each year. Where exact dates change yearly, follow the official link for current confirmation.
January: Falmouth Gig Club Sprint Races
Start the year with the Falmouth Gig Club Sprint Races, a celebration of one of Cornwall's most iconic sports. Watch teams compete in pilot gigs, the long wooden boats that have been a fixture of Cornish maritime life for centuries. Set against the dramatic backdrop of Falmouth Harbour, it is a brisk, atmospheric introduction to the town's seafaring heritage.
When: mid-January, typically the second Saturday.
March: Falmouth Spring Flower Show
The Falmouth Spring Flower Show is a long-standing tradition showcasing Cornwall's world-famous blooms. Held at the Princess Pavilion, the show features dazzling displays of camellias, rhododendrons and spring flowers, alongside gardening talks, artisan stalls and live music. A feast for the senses whether you garden or just enjoy looking at flowers.
When: late March, over a weekend.
April: WanderFal at The Cornish Bank
WanderFal is Falmouth's arts and music festival, hosted by The Cornish Bank, an intimate venue that doubles as the town's creative hub. Live gigs, theatre, workshops, an eclectic programme that turns the historic streets into a long weekend of small-venue music. Local talent meets visiting acts. Friendly, walkable, distinctly Falmouth.
When: mid-April. Check the venue's What's On for the line-up.
June: Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival
The flagship of the year. The Falmouth International Sea Shanty Festival brings over 80 shanty groups from around the world to perform across pubs, streets and open-air stages all weekend. The atmosphere is unbeatable, Falmouth essentially turns into one rolling pub-sing for three days, and almost all of it is free with bucket collections for the RNLI. See our full Sea Shanty Festival guide for venues, history and tips.
When: a long weekend in mid-June.
June: Falmouth Classics Regatta
Running alongside the Sea Shanty Festival, the Falmouth Classics Regatta is a stunning showcase of traditional boats. Vintage yachts, working boats, historic motor vessels gliding across the water in formation. Watch from anywhere along the harbour wall. If you're a fan of maritime craftsmanship, this is unmissable.
When: alongside the Sea Shanty Festival in mid-June.
July: Falmouth Food Festival
Three days of Cornish food in the town centre. The Falmouth Food Festival features cooking demonstrations, food stalls showcasing local producers, and live entertainment through the day. Fresh seafood, artisan cheese, Cornish baked goods. Pair it with a sunset dinner using ingredients you've picked up at the festival.
When: mid-to-late July, over a weekend.
August: Falmouth Week
Summer in Falmouth doesn't get any bigger than this. Falmouth Week is a nine-day festival combining competitive sailing in the harbour with live music, street performances, family events and a fireworks finale. The Red Arrows are a regular fixture, an extraordinary spectacle from anywhere along the seafront or up at Pendennis Castle. See our full Falmouth Week guide for daily highlights and the best Red Arrows viewing spots.

Year-round venues and seasonal pieces
The big Falmouth events fill the seasonal calendar, but the town's evening culture runs year-round at two key venues. The Cornish Bank is the independent music and culture venue in the old bank building on The Moor: live music, comedy, spoken word, DJ nights. The Princess Pavilion is the Victorian concert pavilion in Gyllyngdune Gardens: touring theatre, music, comedy, dance and the annual Christmas pantomime, plus the Spring Flower Show and Beer Festival as headline annual fixtures.
For the seasonal context across the year: spring in Cornwall covers St Piran's Day, the Spring Flower Show and the bluebell-and-microclimate gardens; winter in Cornwall: best things to do covers the storm-watching and pantomime season; why an autumn visit to Falmouth is perfect for couples covers the shoulder season either side of the summer crowds.
For a route through the town that takes in most of these venues on foot, see the Falmouth walking tour.
