Falmouth Week 2026: Fireworks, Red Arrows and Sea-Soaked Summer Fun

If you're heading to Cornwall this August, Falmouth Week is the one event you absolutely want in your diary. The 2026 festival runs Friday 7 August to Sunday 16 August, ten days of sailing races, live music, street theatre, fireworks, and the Red Arrows roaring over the bay.

It's the kind of week where the whole town feels alive: bunting across the high street, boats dotted across the harbour, marquee music spilling out into the night, and on the Wednesday, jets carving smoke trails through the sky.

Falmouth Week 2026 dates and key days

Friday 7 August 2026 to Sunday 16 August 2026. The headline days to plan around:

  • Friday 7 August: Pink Wig Mermaid March, the iconic glittering parade through town in support of Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity and the Mermaid Centre. Departs at 7pm, with a silent disco at the Waterfront Marquee afterwards.
  • Saturday 8 August: Falmouth Carnival. Decorated floats, music, dancing in the streets. Carnival Night follows.
  • Wednesday 12 August: Red Arrows air display + Family Day. The biggest crowds of the week.
  • Friday 14 August: Falmouth Week Fireworks over the harbour, the show-stopper of the week.
  • Saturday 15 to Sunday 16 August: Comic, Movie and Anime Fest closes the week.

The Waterfront Marquee hosts live music every night from Sunday 9 through Saturday 15. See falmouthweek.co.uk for the current marquee lineup.

Where's the best place to watch the Red Arrows in Falmouth?

One word: elevated. The Red Arrows fly on Wednesday 12 August 2026 and it's hands-down the most popular day of the week. Expect aerobatics over the bay, usually mid-afternoon. Exact display time is confirmed nearer the day.

The classic viewing spots:

  • Pendennis Point. High, panoramic views across the bay. Gets very busy, arrive at least an hour before the display.
  • Gyllyngvase Beach. The easy-access beachfront view. Toes in the sand, ice cream in hand.
  • Castle Drive and Cliff Road. Solid views with good access and fewer crowds than Pendennis.
  • Across the water. Walk over to Flushing or Trefusis for a different angle. Fewer elbows, longer view of the smoke trails.

A note on getting there: parking near Pendennis fills up early. Walk in from town or use the Park and Ride.

What's on at the Waterfront Marquee

Each night at the Waterfront Marquee on Church Street Car Park, there's a different act, theme or tribute show. Recent years have featured:

  • Tribute nights spanning rock, Britpop, ska, 80s, 90s and 00s
  • Live bands and DJ sets
  • Themed nights (carnival, fancy dress, decade-specific)
  • Children's afternoon shows on Family Day

The lineup changes year to year and is announced on the official Falmouth Week site as the week approaches. Check the current programme before you arrive.

What's on through the week

Falmouth Week's structure is broadly the same each year, with specific events and lineups confirmed nearer the time on the official site.

Friday: Pink Wig Mermaid March

The opening night. A glittering parade departs at 7pm, raising money for Royal Cornwall Hospitals Charity and the Mermaid Centre. Silent disco at the marquee afterwards.

Saturday: Falmouth Carnival

Decorated floats, music, dancing in the streets. The most colourful day of the week. Carnival Night continues at the marquee.

Sunday to Tuesday: Day racing and live music

Sailing on the water, family-friendly activities onshore, evening sessions at the marquee. A more relaxed early-week tempo.

Wednesday: Red Arrows and Family Day

The headline day. Air display in the afternoon, family activities through the day, live music in the evening. Town is at its busiest, plan parking and food bookings well in advance.

Thursday: Music night

Quieter daytime, themed evening at the marquee.

Friday: Fireworks finale

The crowd-pleaser. Live music through the day, fireworks over the harbour after dark. Best viewed from anywhere along the seafront, the harbour walls, or up at Pendennis.

Saturday: Comic, Movie and Anime Fest opens

Cosplay, screenings, panels. New addition for 2026 running across the closing weekend.

Sunday: Wind down

Coffee on the harbour, last of the festival vibes, head home with a sunburn and tinnitus.

Trewena guest tips for a smooth week

  • Parking. Park and Ride from Ponsharden or Penryn is your best bet for the busy days. Most town-centre car parks fill up early on the Wednesday and Friday.
  • Restaurants. Book ahead. Falmouth's restaurants fill up days or weeks in advance during Falmouth Week. See our best restaurants in Falmouth and Penryn for spots worth securing.
  • Pace yourself. You don't have to see everything. Pick your headline day (Red Arrows for most, Fireworks for fireworks fans, Carnival for families) and leave room for the unexpected.
  • Stay outside town. Falmouth's accommodation books out months in advance for the week. Trewena Cottages, ten minutes' drive away, gives you parking, peace, and a quick run into the action.
