The most traditional of the three. A one-bedroom self-catering cottage that started life as an 1850s labourer's home. Thick stone walls, exposed beams, the original granite fireplace housing a modern wood burner. Logs and kindling provided.

Downstairs is the lounge, the kitchen, and the bathroom with a walk-in shower. The wood burner sits in the original fireplace, copper pans hanging on the white-painted granite. A two-seater sofa, dining table by the window, fully equipped kitchen.

Upstairs is the bedroom: a king-size bed, with a small en-suite WC and basin (the walk-in shower is downstairs).

Outside, a private enclosed Cornish garden with a picnic bench. You hear birds in the morning, not cars.

Ten minutes from Falmouth harbour, three from Penryn Campus, walking distance to the village pub. A peaceful, romantic base for exploring Cornwall.

Common questions

Little Avalon FAQs.

Are there stairs?
Yes. Little Avalon is across two floors, with the bedroom and en-suite upstairs. Not single-floor accessible. The Tractor Shed is the better option for guests with mobility concerns.
Does it really have a wood burner?
Yes, in the original 1850s granite fireplace. We provide logs and kindling. Electric heating handles any rooms not warmed by the fire.
Is it good for a winter break?
Yes. Wood burner, electric blankets on the bed, snug throughout. As an older stone cottage it can feel cool until the wood burner gets going. Most guests find it cosy.
How close is Falmouth?
Ten minutes by car to the harbour and town beaches. Three minutes to Penryn Campus. Pub and village shop within walking distance.
